How An Attic Vent Fan Can Cool Your Home And Save Money

Who would think something like an attic vent fan could make your home so much cooler in the summer?  Without a fan in the attic the temperature can reach 150 degrees and over.  If they are installed correctly, you would even save on your power bill.  Usually, when it is installed it pulls a cooling breeze from the outdoors across the length of the attic and out the other side similar to how a ceiling fan cools down the walls inside your home and makes the living room so much cooler.

If you have a gable that needs repaired before adding the gable attic fan to your attic, you may have to do that first.  Be sure when you pull down the ladder stair that goes into the attic, depending on how insulated your attic is, make sure you are wearing long sleeves and pants, goggles, face mask and gloves as you do not want to get a whole lot of insulation on yourself or breathe in the insulation.  Remember that safety is always first, just as preparation and research is always first when doing anything with electrical power, do all the important things with the power off first and cover yourself up when you begin to vent that attic.  Also, put down a drop cloth with all your tools on it so you are not searching through insulation to find them.

Many times if you have a solar attic exhaust fan you will save quite a bit on your electric bill by making use of the energy from the sun. You will want to get the best price if you decide to call in a professional to do the installation and make the most of this cost efficient energy source as you can.  You can buy a solar power fan for under $400 and have it professionally installed by a commercial company for a little over $125.  Some use no electricity whatsoever which is wonderful.

Just as an exhaust fan cools your bathroom and kitchen, the attic vent fan will cool your attic.  Just as an air conditioner cools your home, it will be good to know your attic is vented and that the house will be so much cooler in the summer and the heat will stay outdoors.  Anything you do each year to improve your home is going to up the price of your home should you decide to sell it.

I have an attic vent fan and I love it. I'm constantly amazed by the efficiency and overall effectiveness of the thing. I don't know why I went so long without one.

Where would you recommend going to buy one of these? I don't like shopping online and I like to be able to see what I'm getting before I purchase something even if it does look like I'm getting it really cheap.

This type of fan has gotten a lot of good reviews. I may have to buy one to see if they really are as efficient as people say they are. I'll really be glad if they are.

During the summer it is so much cooler, not just in the attic but in my whole house. I was skeptical about this product but it really lived up to its reputation. I'm glad I bought it.

Thanks for all of the information. This type of fan looks like a real upgrade from what I already have and it seems like something I could easily buy and install in my home myself.

With winter rapidly approaching I am trying to decide on the best ventilation option for my house. I love the idea of an attic fan as I have many stories and I trap a lot of heat in the the roof - I am hoping this will relieve this somewhat.. Anywho thanks it has given me a clearer idea of what I need.
